Studio classes are ongoing, join anytime, stop when you are ready. Learn oils, acrylic or watercolors. Select your own subject matter and proceed at your own pace. Individual instruction is available as you need it. Class Limit: 6 people.

BACK TO THE EARTH MUD BEARS

In honor of Earth Day, come create realistic or impressionistic renditions of your favorite animals in clay. We will take them home unfired, to let them dissolve back into the Earth over time, with positive wishes for all.

You will learn several simple techniques using everyday and recycled materials to make glowing beauties.

OILSTICKS AND MONOPRINTS

You’ll design, using oil sticks on glass plate, a print and pull up to 3 prints. A final application of paint will “clean up” your image, and you’ll also walk away with a reverse glass painting.

THE ART OF THE ALTERED BOOK, 2 PARTS

This begins the addictive process of altering books to tell your own story. In this first class you will learn to choose and prepare the book that will then be altered by creating various backgrounds with collage, paint, ink pads, and journaling.

WALL HANGINGS WITH COPPER

The first half of this workshop will consist of creating a small embossed copper ornament that will become the focal point of your wall hanging. You’ll learn easy copper embossing techniques and then create from colored burlap and a wide assortment of treasures, a beautiful support for the copper piece. Feel free to bring your own treasures to blend with our selection.

NATIVE FOODS I

This class will focus on two Native plants, the Prickly Pear and the Mesquite. Both have been used by the indigenous peoples as a food source. Taste some of the yummy things you can make and leave with recipes to try at home.

Or ATC’s as they are known in the growing community creating and trading these sweet little works of art. Come create your own 2 ˝ x 3 ˝ sized pieces of art to trade away, give away, or hoard. Symbols are embraced by almost every civilization and religion. In this workshop you will create a pendant or cherished object rich in personal, positive symbolism.
