"Drawing Down the Muse" Women's Creative Weekend
2009.
Saturday Morning Workshops
DRUMMING DOWN THE MUSE facilitated by Barbarah Travland Drumming with intention can be a powerful tool. Drum to focus your energy and then write, draw or otherwise express your experience on paper. Experience the power of intentional, intuitive drumming.
RAVEN’S TREASURE CATCHER facilitated by Patricia Bowne We all have our treasures that we can’t bear to part with. Come listen to a meditative story of the Raven while building a web-like shield to hold trinkets that have special meaning to you.
Saturday Afternoon Workshops 1:30-3:30 P.M.
THE DANCING MURAL facilitated by Ingrid Aspromatis and Melanie Jo Gray Come dance your Art out! Celebrate and express yourself through art and dance. Intertwine dance and movement while using fabric to create a communal mural.
A CHARMED LIFE Creating a Personal Pendant facilitated by Marnie Ehlers and Gayle Swanbeck Symbols are embraced by almost every civilization and religion. They impact our subconscious mind. Create a pendant rich with personal positive symbolism that can elicit positive perspective in your life. Build a clay prototype to be cast in bronze!
Saturday Afternoon Workshops 3:30-6 P.M.
CREATING EARTH GODDESSES facilitated by Kaitlin Meadows Create a Divine Dirt Goddess (or animal totem) that connects you to your primordial feminine wisdom, then create a naming story for your mud woman.
THE RHYTHMIC MUSE facilitated by Quynn Elizabeth The Muse comes through while we are open, altered and/or in a creative state. Come play with ways to access the altered state enjoyed by all humans. Explore simple movements while listening to rhythmic music, as well as breathing techniques and sounds that can move us closer to our Muse.
Sunday Workshop for All
SUN SHIELDS facilitated by Gayle Swanbeck We‘ll each design our own personal vision of the sun. We will then decorate our small sunshield to bring victory into our lives over any darkness that holds us back.
Many other workshops featuring hands-on creativity and personal development will be offered:
This event fills quickly. $60-$100 sliding scale fee includes vegetarian breakfasts and lunches and choices of workshops for the weekend. Single workshops are $25.00 (if not already full.) If desired, bring drums or other instruments for Sunday's closing ceremony.
Please call WomanKraft Art Gallery at 520-629-9976 to register and for a complete list of 2009 workshops and information on past "Drawing Down the Muse" weekends.

“Song Line” created by women from the “Spiritual Archaeology” workshop at the 2006 Muse creativity weekend
Water, moonlit silver, shining, shimmering summer night. Bless us Mother, as we remember... The ocean refuses no river... can we say the same? Everything must feed everything else art feeds life, life feeds art the collective wisdom inspires the infusion of joy into the world. Positive thoughts and actions Come back three fold. Arise Go Forth Conquer your fear, Big Feet Run Fast. Dance by the light And sing from your heart. Soul singing merges into deep spirit archaeology of self. I believe in me! I am moving forward! I accept what life has to offer. Behold, thou art Goddess!

- My Muse... The Bitch.
She doesn't let me sleep No time to think I can't get that R.E.M blink She says that can wait Don't hesitate! Create... NOW!
She drops acid while snorting crystel meth I think sometimes.. Has no sense of timing Wakes me before the alarm clock's chiming I have wondrous ideas for you
Gifts of spirit for a heart so true.. Better find some fabric, paint and glue... and get paper and colored pencils too. Oh, and make time for some writing I'm not done with you.
Goddess, warrior, philosopher, fool Artist, pilgrim or student at the invisible school? Whatever she wants, I feel like a tool
Coffee and chocolate feeds color and texture|Draw, paint, write and sculpt something wild Reflections of self stand naked like a childIt doesn't matter that responsibility calls If I don't do her bidding, she'll bust my balls.. or tits. Either way, she'll have fits
Untill the birth of our art.. Wet and screaming it wriggles in the arms of the Muse "Isn't it beautiful?" She coos Yours, until it's someone else's to keep I yawn, hoping to count sheep Leave for a while and let this poor wretch sleep.
